Quartzsite's Annual Lighted Christmas Parade went to the dogs this year!
Willpower volunteers braved chilly temps
and proudly promenaded with adoptable
pets from the new Quartzsite Animal Shelter.

El Camino lighted by a generator cleverly concealed in the back.

From Deb Metzger: “Here’s a few pictures of what our last minute rush to represent our animal shelter in the light parade looked like. Thankfully Bob knows how to hook things up so the lights
will work. It was so much easier to throw everything on the El Camino and go that
way. Good ole Bob to the rescue!!

A taste of Mardi Gras

Lila Moore sported Mardi Gras flair to win Most Original Rider.

Jim and Kathy Ismond won the Best Quad - Family award.
Errr, note their...trailer.

A family that...together?
What fun the ATV parade was! More and more Quartzsite visitors are staying later each season, partly because of fun February events like the Willpower ATV Parade, the "It's Chili in Quartzsite" chili cook-ff, the Soggy Mountain Bluegrass Festival and the Tuff Golf Tournament -- desert golf at its best. Besides, look at this sunshine -- in the middle of winter! What's not to love?

The Gem publisher Bob Miller got into the spirit.

What's the record? The Guinness World Records folks in England e-mailed, “The current record is: A total of 687 quadbikes (ATVs) took part in the 20th annual Memorial Weekend ATV Rally & Parade through the streets of Hurley, Wisconsin, USA, on 27 May 2005. The event was organised by the Hurley Area Chamber of Commerce.”

However, this e-mail came from ATV Nation July 12, 2006: “ATV Nation as a whole attempted and shattered the old record... 1138 ATV's” at their rally in June, 2006.

Can Quartzsite top this? Let's make it so! Contact us to register to ride in the parade.
